"Salting the Earth...Over again" is the penultimate mission in Saints Row 2.
- Ultor execs enjoy surprise retirement political party
- — Stilwater Gazette newspaper headline
Overview [ ]
At the Saints Hideout, Playa receives a package from an unknown sender addressed to them. Within is a newspaper clipping revealing Ultor's current fundraising gala aboard a yacht. Spotting an opportunity for revenge against Ultor's recent hostilities, Playa heads out to crash their party despite Pierce'south best efforts to dissuade them, who advises on how it could exist a trap and reminds Playa of their history aboard yachts, as the explosion aboard Richard Hughes' yacht[ane] placed Playa into a five year coma.[2]
Afterwards reaching the yacht, Playa slays all of the executives partying aboard. Dane Vogel watches the carnage unfold from his role at the pinnacle of the Phillips Building. It becomes apparent that the executives aboard the yacht belonged to the Ultor board of directors, and Vogel sent Playa the package, manipulating them into killing the executives to further his own goals, and in retaliation for the threats made against him in the boardroom at the finish of the previous mission.[4] Knowing that he now fully controls Ultor, Vogel asks his secretarial assistant Jaime to set upward a press briefing for him[five], initiating the events of the terminal mission.[6]
Story [ ]
Upon completion of the Mission, this description is bachelor at Newspaper Clipboards.
Bodies of the Ultor Lath of Directors littered the water this forenoon, equally a corporate gala turned into a blood bath. This is the second fourth dimension a massacre has occurred on the open up water here in Stilwater...fortunately there were no explosions.
Gameplay [ ]
The objective of this mission is to impale six executives aboard a yacht to the northeast of the Saint'southward Row District. In the patched version of the game, the two Tornados fire rockets, and there are absolutely no checkpoints throughout the entire mission. Yet, if the game has not been updated or patched at all, the Tornados lack the ability to burn their missiles and the mission is generally quite easy.
- Grab a h2o craft and become to the yacht
Brainstorm by heading to the Saints Row Mega Condo and jumping aboard the Shark on the dock.
- Become to the yacht
If the game isn't patched, bulldoze to the yacht and a Tornado arrives and follows, but does nothing. If the game is patched, immediately disembark from the Shark subsequently boarding it and look for the message that an Ultor attack helicopter presently arrives. Use the minor roof overhead as cover and appoint the Tornado on foot; heavy firepower should down it adequately rapidly, then get back on the Shark and drive to the yacht peacefully (the Tornado is not replaced).
Another strategy, although more riskier, is to drive to the yacht and go out from the Shark every fourth dimension the Tornado fires its missiles. Playa smashes awkwardly into the h2o, only the missile lock is lost and it should crash into the water. This strategy must be repeated multiple times before reaching the yacht.
If a Tornado has been obtained previously, retrieving it from a garage before the mission and using it makes short piece of work of the enemy Torandos and most enemies on the boat earlier needing to abandon it to impale the ones that remain on the interior.
- Kill the Ultor execs
Later reaching the yacht, the 5 executives are all located within the center of the yacht at diverse levels. The yacht's defenses consist of little more than a few Ultor security guards, but the game's framerate may drop notably during this section of the mission.
- Get to the speedboat and chase down the terminal exec
The 6th and final executive attempts to flee on some other gunkhole; caput to the marking to board a Python speedboat and give chase. Another Tornado arrives and give chase; ignore information technology and quickly focus all firepower on the enemy boat. Ideally, it should autumn very quickly. Failure results in the unabridged mission restarting from the beginning.
Rewards [ ]
- Cash: $25,000

- Mission: ... and a Ameliorate Life
Newscast [ ]
- Jane Valderamma: "It was to exist the gala to cease all galas...and regretably for the Ultor Lath of Directors...it was. The mirth born of profits and over priced vodka gimlets was drowned out by gunfire, equally an unknown assailent killed the political party with more efficiency and brutality than whatever line dance could. I'thousand Jane Valderamma, channel six news."
Trivia [ ]
- While vi Ultor Directors are murdered in this mission, at that place appear to exist 8 in the ending cutscene of the previous mission, "Pyramid Scheme". The fates of the ii Directors not attention the gala aren't revealed, but it can be inferred that Vogel either had them eliminated offscreen, or else forced them to make him the de facto leader of Ultor.
- There are several references and allusions in this mission to the first Saints Row and its last mission, "Saints and Martyrs":
- The title, "Salting the Earth...Again", is a reference to the cutscene that plays in the Saints and Martyrs mission, "Salting the Earth".
- The yacht in this mission belongs to the game's antagonists, Ultor, and is being used every bit a fundraising gala.[7] The yacht in "Saints and Martyrs" belongs to that game's adversary, Alderman Richard Hughes, who planned to host a fundraising gala aboard his yacht subsequently that night.[8]
- In the opening cutscene, Pierce sarcastically quips, "Well, your history with boats is pretty solid, so, uh, this seems like a good idea...", referring to Playa existence placed into a coma afterwards Hughes' yacht exploded at the finish of the Saints Row.
- There are no checkpoints in this mission, similar to all of the missions in Saints Row.
- It is possible to complete this mission with a Tornado, just after the last cutscene, it is teleported to the dock beside the Saints Row Mega Condo, with the tail embedded in concrete.
- The boat commuter with the last exec can be obtained by killing the driver and entering it. It is incommunicable to normally control the boat though as information technology goes by a scripted path.

- Jack Armstrong: "This just in to the newsroom, a deadly explosion has rocked the waterfront. Our Jane Valderamma is already at the scene."
Jane Valderamma: "Jack, waterfront residents and the press, who were setting up their cameras and microphones to embrace the gala fund-raiser scheduled for mayoral candidate's Hughes' campaign, were treated to an amazing site a few moments ago every bit the yacht registered to the alderman exploded in a shower of contumely and mahogany. Nosotros were a prophylactic distance abroad so no one here was injured, as far as nosotros tin tell, but we accept no word as to who - if anyone - was actually aboard. We don't know how this happened, why this happened, or even who was on the boat - if anyone - as no survivors take been located. I was inside the press tent when it happened, but witnesses outside say that the peaceful, serene evening was suddenly punctured by a viscous explosion that not just reduced the alderman's yacht to a pile of floating debris, but knocked out windows and swamped smaller boats throughout the marina. Jack."
Jack Armstrong: "Jane, while you lot were giving that report we attempted to contact Alderman Hughes' printing secretary, and at that place was no respond. Do nosotros know where the alderman is?"
Jane Valderamma: "No we practice non, Jack. I've asked effectually and no ane from the press cord noticed any official motion on the boat, as it's early in the evening and the event was not scheduled to begin for another couple of hours."
Jack Armstrong: "Do we know if this was an accident, or yet some other attempt on the life of a public official?"
Jane Valderamma: "Jack, nosotros don't have any definitive answers on that, and with almost no details emerging yet, we nevertheless practice non know if this was something every bit silly as a galley or a fuel tank explosion... but in the calorie-free of recent events, we cannot rule out the possibility that this was more just an blow. Reporting alive from the waterfront, this is Jane Valderamma. Back to yous, Jack."
Jack Armstrong: "Thank you, Jane, and stay dry out. Stay tuned every bit nosotros get more than details on this unfolding outcome, we will bring them to you immediately. In the newsroom, I'm Jack Armstrong."
